Photography tuition with Simon Watkinson

As I have all of the gear now, but still no idea, I thought I had better attend some proper training and find out how to use everything.
I spent two days, 28-29th of Jan, with Simon Watkinson in the Peak District covering the basics of photography, ie; camera controls, exposure, white balance, etc, then an afternoon of practical Landscape Photography at an interesting area called Magpie Mine. Day two was an introduction to Adobe Lightroom 2, at my request. I had heard a lot about this program and was a little bit confused about the difference between Bridge and Lightroom. I am now a Lightroom convert. I was a little bit apprehensive before attending the training as this was my first ever formal period of photography instruction. I need not have worried. Simon put me at ease immediately with his relaxed teaching style and laid back, but proffesional attitude. In two days I learnt a lot and am now looking forward to my next course with him in April, a three day Landscape Course. I thoroughly recommend anyone interested in photography who is thinking about attending a course or workshop to just go and do it. It is well worth the effort and money. The downside was that I came back with a shopping list to the value of around £400 for Adobe Lightroom 2, a new head for my tripod, and a white balance card. I can already see the improvements in my photography so it was all well worth it. I hope to have some of my improved pics in my galleries soon.
